——ACC2016候任主席、美国Lee纪念医院心脏中心Richard A. Chazal教授专访
International Circulation: As the elect-president of ACC, would you please talk about your future focuses and plans after you holding ACC?
《国际循环》:作为ACC候任主席,能否请您分享一下未来执掌ACC后您将重点关注和解决哪些问题?您有哪些计划?
Dr Chazal: I am very fortunate to be in this position during a time of extreme change. We are trying and I am going to try very diligently to help make the ACC more effective in delivering cure to patients worldwide. Our focus has always been in the United States, we are trying to expand that focus during my presidency it is my intention to continue to work with colleagues around the world. Domestically we are reorganizing much of ACC and the way that we do business, the way we govern ourselves to be more efficient and to do a better job with the resources that are available to us. We also in the United States, are faced with some major changes in delivery of healthcare. We have spent too much money and too much of our gross domestic product on healthcare and we need to figure out better ways to be more efficient. Part of my job as ACC president is to try to utilize the resources of our college to teach us as clinicians how to better utilize the resources to continue to deliver the highest care possible but in a more efficient manner.
International Circulation: The joint symposium of the Chinese Society of Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology has built a good communication platform for the American and Chinese Cardiology. As the co-chair of this joint symposium, would you please share about the main wonderful content it brings to us? How can we further strengthen the future cooperation and communication between America and China?
Dr Chazal: I had the great pleasure of co-chairing with Dr. Ge the joint symposium with China. Wow, it was an outstanding conference. The quality of the data presented by our colleagues both in the United States and from China was outstanding. One of the things that we learned was the tremendous, for example, growth of the use of radial artery catheterization in China over a relatively short period of time. It is an accomplishment that improves the quality of care and we have not been able to duplicate those outstanding results in the United States that they have in China. We also learned a bit of difference in some of the care. For example, a lot of use of thrombolytic therapy for acute myocardial infarction in China which is used less in the United States where primary PCI is utilized most of the time for ST elevation in myocardial infarction. Tremendous amount of information is exchanged on those sides, it is my belief that this type of forum where we share information and learn the strengths and our own weaknesses so that we could emulate one another in the strength areas makes us all better clinicians and deliver better care for our patients.
International Circulation: In terms of ACC/CSC Joint symposium, how do you think to optimize it in the future? How to turn ACC/CSC joint symposium into impact and control of the research and management of cardiovascular disease in China?
《国际循环》:关于ACC/CSC联合论坛,您认为未来还可以做哪些优化及深化?发挥其对中国心血管疾病科研和临床管理的影响力,需要着手哪些具体工作?
Dr Chazal: My hope is that the collaboration between the Chinese society and the ACC and the individual presenters yields fruit in terms of us sharing information that then may lead to joint research that helps us improve the care in both China and the United States because I am convinced we have a great deal to learn from one another. I believe this direct interaction between clinical physicians and academics at this type of symposium at the highest level provides a vehicle for us to work with our colleagues in China so that we can accomplish this task. I am very excited about this and I am personally invested in this. As it turns out, my youngest child is Chinese so for me the care of patients in China is a very personal issue that I take very seriously so I am extremely excited about this collaboration between our countries.
